networking solutions, today announced that the State of Alabama
Engineering Hall of Fame has inducted Clint Coleman, vice president of
Carrier Networks Division Engineering, into its 2015 class. Inductees
are individuals, corporations or projects that serve as pillars within

A 27-year veteran of ADTRAN, Coleman plays a pivotal role in helping to
develop ADTRAN’s carrier product lines and bringing solutions to market.
Joining ADTRAN as a design engineer, Coleman was a charter member of the
team responsible for developing the company’s first HDSL transceiver,
upon which the HDSL product line is built. This major technology
breakthrough transformed the telecom industry by enabling T-1 access to
be widely used by nearly every business, government office and community
anchor institution across the nation. The HDSL product line was the
foundation and catalyst for ADTRAN’s growth in the 1990s. The company’s
success expanded in the 2000s as it pioneered broadband access and
networking solutions. Today, Coleman continues to steer the company’s
engineering efforts with major industry breakthroughs in Gigabit
networks that have resulted in ADTRAN becoming a top three global
provider of solutions for these industries.
Coleman leads engineer design groups with over 400 global employees, as
well as oversees products and services across the company, including
broadband access, Carrier Ethernet and Optical Networking Edge solution.
His leadership and knowledge ensures that ADTRAN engineering teams are
continuing to provide best-in-class technology that address the
increasing and evolving demands from new and existing global customers.
“Clint joined ADTRAN at a time when technology was drastically evolving,
and world-class engineers were in high demand. Since then, his strong
combination of technical experience, creativity and market insight has
helped make ADTRAN a global leader in the products he helped develop,”
said Tom Stanton, ADTRAN CEO. “With Clint’s deep history and roots with
ADTRAN and Alabama, it’s no surprise that the Engineering Hall of Fame
has recognized his efforts. We congratulate Clint on this honor and
continue to thank him for his dedication in developing solutions that
transform the industry while enabling ADTRAN product growth.”
Individually and jointly, Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame members
continue to influence the advancement of engineering and technology,
leading to an enhanced economic, cultural and political future. Selected
from a 20-member board of directors, five individuals, including
Coleman, and three projects were inducted to the 26th Engineering Hall
of Fame class on February 21. The inductees join a distinguished group
of technology influencers, including Apple CEO Tim Cook; Dr. Wernher von
Braun, the aerospace engineer and space architect considered one of the
“fathers of rocket science”; and Mark Smith, ADTRAN co-founder and
former CEO.
